Regulation. GDPR (EU) and equivalent national data-protection regimes — UK DPA 2018, Switzerland's revDPA, France's CNIL guidance. For US and Canadian public bodies, FOIA-style records-retention obligations apply alongside the data-protection rules.

DANIAN configuration. Region pinned to the customer's jurisdiction (Germany, Finland, Canada, and similar). JWT secret unique per container, never derived from the default. Backup retention extended to 90 days on request to align with public-records minimums.

Workflow. Internal policy documents drafted in Word format, redlined via Track Changes by named reviewers, signed off via fillable PDF forms with per-recipient status tracking.

Real deployment. The city of Lyon migrated its city administration to ONLYOFFICE in 2025. Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) reports 80% of state-government workplaces have moved from Microsoft Office to open-source alternatives. The city of Hopewell, Virginia deployed ONLYOFFICE Enterprise for 500 government employees.

Real deployment. The University of Grenoble Alpes (60,000 students across three merged campuses) and the University of Nantes (37,000 students) both run ONLYOFFICE Docs as the primary editor inside the institutional DMS. Münster University runs it inside the sciebo platform.

Regulation. GDPR Article 32 (security of processing) for EU firms. ABA Model Rule 1.6 (confidentiality of client information) for US firms. Many jurisdictions impose document-retention floors of six to ten years on signed instruments.

DANIAN configuration. Strict co-editing mode set as the default at the connector level (paragraph-locking, not real-time cursors) to avoid two-editor races on the same clause. Audit trail enabled for all document access via the Admin Panel. SSO mandatory; no shared accounts.

Workflow. Contract drafted in Word format, sent for client review with Track Changes on, redlines accepted or rejected clause by clause, document compared against the prior version via the Compare Documents tool, signed copy archived to the matter file.

Real deployment. Document comparison and document combining — both Enterprise-build features — are the named-feature reason most legal customers cite for choosing Enterprise over the Community Edition build. NetExplorer's legal-services customers specifically cite Track Changes as the most-used feature.

Regulation. HIPAA (US), GDPR Article 9 (special-category personal data) for EU healthcare providers, regional medical-record retention rules (often 10–25 years), and patient-data residency requirements that vary by country.

DANIAN configuration. Single-tenant container with no shared resources. JWT enforced on every endpoint, with the secret rotated on a 90-day cycle. Region selection limited to jurisdictions matching the customer's regulatory perimeter. Backup encryption keys held by the customer on request.

Workflow. Clinical templates drafted as fillable PDF forms with per-field validation, completed by clinicians at point of care, exported as flat PDFs for the patient record. Internal SOPs maintained in Word format with quarterly review cycles tracked via Track Changes and named reviewers.

Real deployment. NetExplorer's healthcare-focused cloud platform — which integrated ONLYOFFICE Docs to serve French medical institutions — operates under ISO 27001 and provides ONLYOFFICE-based co-editing as the document layer for clinical workflows.
