ABOUT THE SOFTWARE

What is IT-Tools

IT-Tools is an open-source web app that bundles 80+ developer and IT utilities into a single search-first interface. JWT parser, JSON and YAML formatters, hash and crypto tools, network calculators, encoders, generators, converters — every utility a working engineer reaches for during a normal day.

The project is maintained by Corentin Thomasset and a community of contributors, distributed under the GPL-3.0 license. The repository sits on GitHub at CorentinTh/it-tools with roughly 37,000 stars and over 4,600 forks as of early 2026. Every utility is a Vue 3 component that runs entirely client-side, served by a small Nginx container; there is no backend, no database, and no telemetry in the self-hosted Docker image.

The official Docker image (corentinth/it-tools on Docker Hub, also mirrored to ghcr.io/corentinth/it-tools) has been pulled more than 19 million times. The container is roughly 28 MB on disk and uses about 60 MB of RAM at runtime.

FEATURES

What IT-Tools does

IT-Tools is organised into roughly a dozen categories, each containing the utilities engineers reach for several times a day. Every tool runs in the browser, so payloads — JWTs, hashes, JSON dumps, internal hostnames — never travel further than the tab you have open.

Crypto and hashing

Token generator, text hash, bcrypt, HMAC, RSA key pair, encryption/decryption, BIP39 passphrase, PDF signature checker, and password strength analyser — all client-side.

Web utilities

URL encoder/decoder, HTML entities, URL parser, device info, Basic Auth header generator, meta-tag builder, OTP code generator, MIME types reference, JWT parser, HTTP status codes.

Network tools

IPv4 subnet calculator, IPv4 address converter, IPv4 range expander, MAC address lookup, MAC address generator, IPv6 ULA generator, and a random port generator for development.

Math and data

Math evaluator, ETA calculator, percentage calculator, temperature converter, chronometer, and a benchmark builder for quick comparison of two timing samples.

Converters

Date/time, integer base, Roman numeral, Base64 string and file, color formats, case converter, NATO alphabet, YAML ↔ JSON ↔ TOML, XML ↔ JSON, Markdown to HTML.

Generators

UUID v1/v4, ULID, secure password, lorem ipsum, QR code, WiFi QR code, SVG placeholder, slugify, basic-auth header, OTP codes — most accept length and charset parameters.

Text utilities

Lorem ipsum, text statistics, emoji picker, string obfuscator, text diff, numeronym generator, ASCII text drawer, and a string case converter for camelCase, snake_case, and kebab-case.

Developer day-to-day

Docker run to docker-compose converter, crontab generator, chmod calculator, Git memo, SQL prettifier, JSON viewer/minifier/diff, JSON to CSV, JSON to TypeScript interface generator.

WHAT'S ALWAYS INCLUDED

WHY MANAGED

Why teams pick managed IT-Tools

On March 1, 2026, Postman restricted its Free plan to a single user and moved any team of two or more onto the €19/user/month Team tier. Engineering teams started auditing the broader cost of paid developer-tool SaaS — and the privacy cost of pasting client data into someone else's web app.

"Just running IT-Tools" looks simple — one Docker image, one port. The real work shows up later. Tagged releases stopped in October 2024 but nightly builds continue to land tools and security fixes, so you have to decide whether to track :latest, pin a tag, or build from source. A public instance is a free phishing surface, so you front it with a reverse proxy, auth, and TLS. The default Docker image switched to nginx-unprivileged and now listens on port 8080 inside the container; teams reusing older docker-compose snippets find their reverse proxy can't see the app (GitHub issue #1285). Two tools — MAC address lookup and text-diff — call out to external APIs and fail silently when an air-gapped network blocks egress.

USE CASES

Three teams who run IT-Tools on DANIAN

These are representative team types we set up most often. Each starts with the same flat €9 plan.

12-PERSON DEV AGENCY

Replacing online JWT debuggers after a client compliance review

After a fintech client flagged "no client tokens in third-party websites" during an annual review, the agency moved IT-Tools onto DANIAN in Germany. We sat their Microsoft Entra ID in front of the app and added their custom subdomain. Developers reach JWT and hash tools without leaving the corporate identity perimeter. Composite scenario.

FINTECH ENGINEERING TEAM

Stopping sensitive token pasting into untrusted public tools

A 20-engineer fintech APAC team deployed IT-Tools in our Singapore region with access restricted to their corporate IP range. Engineers stopped pasting production JWTs and HMAC inputs into public web tools. One €9/month instance replaced four paid developer-tool subscriptions and removed a recurring item from quarterly security reviews. Composite scenario.

EDUCATION / CODING BOOTCAMP

Bundled developer toolbox for 80 students per cohort

A Latin American bootcamp runs IT-Tools in our Brazil region, branded to their identity at tools.bootcamp.example. Access is open with rate limiting, and instructors deep-link individual utilities from the LMS curriculum. Eighty students per cohort, three cohorts a year, on one managed instance that costs less than a single DevUtils license. Composite scenario.

COMPARISON

Four ways to run IT-Tools

IT-Tools replaces a bundle of paid developer SaaS — API clients, JWT debuggers, regex testers, JSON formatters — but only if it stays online, patched, and behind sensible auth. Here is how the four common paths compare at one, five, and ten engineers.

PATHWHAT IT ISCOST AT 1 USERCOST AT 5 USERSCOST AT 10 USERS OPS TIME
Proprietary SaaS bundle
Postman Team + DevUtils licenses + RegExr Pro~$22/mo~$110/mo~$220/mo
None (vendor)

DANIAN Managed

Each path has its place. The SaaS bundle wins when a team genuinely needs Postman's collaboration features and is happy to keep paying per seat at the new March 2026 prices. A self-hosted VPS makes sense when an engineer enjoys ops work and treats it as a hobby. A home server fits a single developer with a fixed home office. The managed path fits everyone else — a flat €9/month at every seat count, with the operational work already handled.

BY INDUSTRY

IT-Tools for specific industries

A few industries put particular pressure on where developer-utility data goes — because the inputs are usually sensitive, the policies are written, and the auditors ask. Here is how DANIAN typically configures IT-Tools for each.

Most agency-client contracts include an NDA clause that prohibits sharing client tokens, internal hostnames, sample data, or test payloads with third-party online services. A junior developer pasting a client's JWT into a public debugger is a contract violation, even if nothing bad happens.

DANIAN deploys IT-Tools behind an authenticated reverse proxy in the region your master service agreement specifies, with daily encrypted backups and a custom subdomain such as tools.agency.example. Engineers debug client JWTs, hash test data, and prettify JSON without those payloads leaving infrastructure you control.

A 12-person agency typically consolidates five or more individual developer-tool subscriptions onto one €9/month instance — Postman seats, DevUtils licenses, JWT.io Premium accounts, regex tester subscriptions — while removing a recurring item from every client security questionnaire.
Fintech engineering teams operate under PCI-DSS scope minimization and internal data-handling policies that bar sharing card data, tokens, account numbers, or HMAC inputs with external services. The same engineers still need a JWT parser, a hash tool, and a JSON formatter twenty times a day.

DANIAN deploys IT-Tools in the region your policy permits — Germany, UK, Singapore, USA, etc. The container runs in per-tenant isolation with backups encrypted at rest. Engineers parse JWTs and inspect hashes in-network rather than through public CDNs.

A 20-engineer team typically replaces €300–€500/month of premium developer-tool licenses with one managed instance. The replacement is measurable on the next renewal cycle, and security teams stop seeing pasted tokens in CASB logs.
Healthcare engineering teams follow the HIPAA Privacy Rule's minimum-necessary standard, which strongly discourages routing fragments of PHI through public utility websites — even FHIR samples or HL7 segments that "look harmless" can be re-identifiable in combination.

DANIAN deploys IT-Tools in a US region with backup retention configured to your organisation's policy, and per-container isolation on the underlying host. Clinical-integration engineers test FHIR JSON, decode Base64-wrapped attachments, and prettify HL7 message bodies inside the controlled network rather than via public converters.

The measurable result is simple: zero fragments of patient data leave your controlled network during normal developer work. A single managed instance covers an entire integration team for €9/month.
Pen-test and red-team consultancies operate under strict client-confidentiality NDAs that often require ISO-style operational separation — one engagement's artefacts must not commingle with another's. Engineers also need a long tail of encoding, decoding, and hashing tools per engagement.

DANIAN deploys a dedicated IT-Tools instance per client engagement in the region the client requests, with the instance torn down when the engagement closes. The Docker image is small enough that spinning a fresh instance takes minutes. Backups can be retained per engagement or wiped on close.

A typical five-consultant team touches 30+ utility tools per engagement — Base64, URL encoders, hash, HMAC, JWT, regex, Docker run to compose. One managed instance per engagement covers them all, on a flat price your client can see on the invoice.
Bootcamps and CS programs ship curriculum that touches dozens of small utilities — JSON formatters, regex testers, JWT parsers, hash demos, color converters. Educators want students to use the same utility, branded the same way, throughout a cohort, rather than scattering across whatever the student googles.

DANIAN deploys IT-Tools at a branded subdomain — tools.bootcamp.example — in the region nearest the cohort. Access is open with rate limiting, and the instance can be themed to match the school's identity. Instructors deep-link directly from the LMS into specific utilities.

A bootcamp running 80 students per cohort and three cohorts a year covers an entire student population for €108/year, replacing per-student DevUtils-style licenses that would run into the thousands.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything teams ask before signing up — answered straight, without sales speak.

Three groups: technical setup, migration, and how DANIAN works as a service.

01

Technical and configuration

Every IT-Tools utility is a Vue 3 component that runs entirely in your browser. The container ships a static bundle served by Nginx. No tool sends payloads to a backend, and the self-hosted Docker image has no analytics integration. We confirmed this against the upstream source. Two minor tools (MAC address lookup, text-diff) call external APIs and will degrade if you block container egress.
Upstream IT-Tools does not expose a runtime feature flag for hiding individual tools — tool visibility is controlled at build time. On DANIAN you can favorite tools to pin them to the top of the list.
Yes. IT-Tools accepts community contributions through pull requests to the upstream repository. New tools land as Vue components in src/tools and are wired into the index.
Upstream IT-Tools has no built-in auth — it is a static frontend. We front every instance with an authenticated proxy by default, so a public URL is not exposed until you opt in. We can wire Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, or generic OIDC SSO in front of the app. Talk to support and we'll configure it.
The Docker image is about 28 MB on disk. A running container uses roughly 60 MB of RAM under typical use because Nginx is serving a static bundle. CPU is near idle. The €9 DANIAN plan provisions far more headroom than IT-Tools needs, which is one reason this app pairs well with light traffic and a small team.
CyberChef is operation-pipeline oriented — you chain recipes for data manipulation, with a focus on encoding, decoding, and forensics. IT-Tools is a flat catalog of 80+ standalone utilities with a search-first UI: JWT parser, JSON formatter, hash, UUID, color converter, Docker-run-to-compose, and so on. Many teams run both; they don't overlap as much as they look.

02

Migration and onboarding

We can activate your app on your own custom domain/subdomain. Examples: mydomain.com, anyword.mydomain.com.
Or, on our randomized free subdomain. Example: 963.apps.danian.cloud
If you wish to use a custom domain/subdomain, select that option when ordering your app (or notify us later). We will send you the required DNS records and if needed, our tech team will modify them for you.
21 datacenter locations across six continents. You choose the region at provisioning. Application data sits in the region you choose; pick whichever is closest to your users or matches your data-residency preference.
Yes. Request a region migration from the dashboard and we run the move in the background. The system emails you when the migration completes; total transfer time depends on data volume but typical instances finish in a few hours. There is no extra charge for a region change.
Yes. Full data export is available at any time, in a portable format you can bring to any infrastructure.
No server-side data exists. IT-Tools stores nothing on the server. Each tool runs in the browser, and a small handful keep state in your browser's local storage. If you are coming from a self-hosted instance, there is no database export or account import to plan around.
Yes. Because IT-Tools has no native auth, we sit an OIDC-aware proxy in front of it. We support Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Authelia, and generic OIDC. Send your discovery URL and client credentials through the support portal and we will configure the proxy and test the login flow with you.
Yes. Many teams run IT-Tools next to Gitea, Vaultwarden, or a wiki. Each app is €9 and runs in its own container, but all of them can sit behind the same OIDC proxy configuration, so engineers log in once and reach every internal tool. We help with the proxy and DNS setup.

03

Billing, support, and platform

€9 covers everything we do for that app: hardware in the region you choose, daily off-site backups with one-click restore, automatic security patches and version upgrades, 24/7 monitoring, SSL and firewall, and engineering support on Email/LiveChat. There are no setup fees or hidden line items. For more info see our Pricing page.
If you decide to continue, we charge €9/app/month from day 8. If you don't, the trial ends and you can export your data. No card is required for the trial, and we never auto-charge you without explicit consent.
No. The €9/month is flat regardless of how many users log into your app. Add 5 users or 50; the price doesn't change.
24/7 Live chat and email support, both staffed by engineers who run the systems. We handle DNS configuration, SMTP setup, app integrations, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and migration help. Response time is typically under an hour. There is no tier system — every customer gets the same support.
Yes. Cancel from the dashboard. We don't charge a cancellation fee, we don't lock data, and we will export your data to you on request before deletion. data to you on request before deletion.
Every customer instance is backed up daily to a separate region from the primary. We test restores. You can request a restore at any backup point within the retention window — usually 7 days for daily backups.
